Chaos in the Offing

Last week the Atlantic wrote an excellent piece about AI’s impact on the global economy. The author perfectly captures my thoughts around the datacenter and AI boom at the moment:

"If AI progress stalls and the money dries up, there will be economic chaos. If AI progress advances and leads to massive waves of automation, there will also be economic chaos."

If the technology doesn’t pan out we end up with a severe economic crash and at the very least a global recession. If the technology does pan out we have a new industrial revolution with a massive societal shake up that will take decades to navigate.  Either way chaos seems on the menu in the short to mid term future.
